An Advent Calendar for Create and Craft TV
The Advent Calendar
I am back on air on 31st July at 10am and 6pm and will have the new Advent Calendar to show – You will need to get it soon as it needs to be stitched by the 1st December! This project will be exclusive to Create and Craft TV and I will show it for the first time on 31st July.
I am so thrilled for the team at Create and Craft TV – they work so hard to produce this specialist TV Channel and are making such a good job of it. Originally. dedicated to papercrafts, the Channel has grown and grown to include all sorts of crafts. I was pleased and rather nervous when I was invited to add my penny worth over 18 months ago and now I am so glad I got involved. I have to limit myself to two days a month in the studios as it is vital that the Cross Stitch Guild has the lion’s share of my time. I explained on my first visit to the studios in Peterborough that I can spend every minute of my waking hours (and some of of my sleeping ones!) designing and stitching just to keep Guild Members busy!
A day at the Studios starts early – I leave the house in Fairford at 5am for the drive to Peterborough, and have to arrive two hours before the live show. On arrival, it is off the Green Room for a cup of coffee and to hang up and/or iron my clean clothes. I put my make up and hair stuff out in the table in the dressing room and then one of the ream takes me to the Studio where the counters or sitting areas are laid out ready to be checked. This is absolutely vital as the programme is filmed live and there are so many things that can go wrong…..
Back to the Green room to look through my bits and pieces – I take the worked models wherever possible and also things to stitch or demonstrate. Then a short meeting the Floor Manager, Director and Presenter and then a few minutes breather before we go on air. A viewer asked my how I do it live and I have to admit that the only way is to imagine you are talking to one fellow stitcher – not a potential of 8 million – that is not in my mind!
Good news for crafters generally is that Create and Craft TV is doing so well that they have been allowed to extend their Freeview times and are now available from 6am to 10pm via the Freeview service and it is not necessary to have a satellite and Sky! That’s all for now folks – see you on 31st July
