Jane's Jottings

Where did this year go?

Hello again everyone,

I simply cannot believe it is nearly the end of August and we are thinking of the autumn and nights drawing in….. The only advantage of the winter is more time to stitch as the garden goes to sleep. Since my last post, we have been busy here at Pinks Barn (our home and CSG HQ) giving the place a really good clear up and sort out. We have even cleared out the shed…….

Martin Reynolds, my wonderful carpenter has been here for a week – you can imagine Bill’s face when I said I needed him for a week! He had altered my desk in the office, raised the big worktables and joined them together and made me a pretty little display table for the shows.  I have treated myself to a little tropical fish tank in the corner of the desk and spend longer than I should do looking at them!

Our dear old dog, Bumble was 13 years old last weekend – You can see he has matured in to a very sensible and  grown up creature! He is now very deaf and has poor vision but still seems very happy with his lot! As you can see he is not allowed on the furniture!

On the business front  things get more exciting.

My patterns on my phone and ipad

Cross stitch charts on my Mini Ipad and my phone

Within the next few days, we will be launching Stitch from your Stash and I think it may be the way forward. The idea is that you can buy and download charts direct to your computer, IPad or even your phone!  Each design comes complete with all the instructions and diagrams where necessary and you can start stitching immediately!

I cannot explain how this feels to me this end – If you compare this to the old days when I would design and stitch a project, photograph it and Bill would take samples to needlework shops and hope that they would buy the kits. It could take months before a new project was out there!  I have now experienced the incredible effect of the internet. One morning, I decided to design and stitch a little pin keep and by our evening meal it was completed. I photographed it and added it to the web site. By bedtime, I had sold four, two of which were going overseas! It was marvellous!

Stitch from Your Stash

Having called the new product Stitch from your Stash, you will have another excuse to shop for your stash –  as if you need one –  Maybe this will be a way to increase sales in needlework shops again.  We will launching Stitch from Your Stash with over 60 designs ready for you to download – some of which are from out of print sources or long lost projects. I am now designing specially for the site and will upload new things every week.  I will let you know when we go live………..
